Reimagining Society Through Art
Overview
We will screen the 2024 film 'please bless us', directed by Tomomi Yokoo, a Deaf filmmaker. The film portrays the collective struggles faced by Deaf women through sign language storytelling and expressive physical performance.
This screening offers an opportunity to reflect on themes such as eugenics, the diversity of communication, representation of marginalized communities, and art led by those.
Following the screening, a talk session will be held featuring experts in fields such as tojisha kenkyu, barrier-free design, and Advanced Art Design, alongside Director Yokoo. Together, they will engage in a dialogue exploring the social messages conveyed through the film from their perspectives.
